MostlyWhiteRose…A Yorkshire lass living in Cheshire

I have had a keen interest in photography for many years, I think possibly stemming from my dad’s enthusiasm with his Pentax camera and light meter back in the day! I’m not sure whether he would be a staunch defender of the film camera or whether he would embrace this digital age were he still around… he always liked a gadget, so I hope, the latter, and the former.

My first interest was always nature, capturing raindrops on leaves, or sun rays glinting through bullrushes; garden birds going about their day looking marvellous, bedraggled, exhausted, depending on the time of year;

Snails reaching improbable places, and then of course the stunning scenes and coastal birds on visits to Northumberland, Wales, and the Highlands of Scotland (Curlews and Oyster Catchers being particular favourites)

For 12 years I was a part of Passion for Learning a children’s charity working across Cheshire. I was able to hone my skills taking candid shots at events, enrichment clubs, and workshops; these images essentially captured children’s joy of learning through play and exploration and can be seen across the PfL brand. I now spend a lot more time doing this type of photography in schools providing images for website updates and classroom displays

In between all this there has of course been the many pets, rescue dogs, cats, chickens, and the cockatiel, all willing models;

The fancy looking food that I’m very grateful to my husband, Russell for providing (often after he’s binge watched a series of MasterChef or some such);

The “street photography”, graffiti, weeds breaking through concrete, the discarded random objects, ramshackle buildings and modern “blots on the landscape”.

Russell is a musician and sound engineer (see D.A.R. Audio for all your PA needs) – this means I also get to try my hand at “gig photography”

In “short”, I just love taking photographs; I confess, much of it is trial and error but that’s where the “design” part comes in. If I snap a Curlew or a Magpie and it turns out they’re blurry, no matter, they’ll get turned into something like this;

All designs are based on original photographs by me.
